MICROCREDIT WORKS IN CHILE

The Rotary Club of Talagante, Santiago, Chile, in District 4340, worked with seven other clubs to create a microcredit development bank that provides loans to entrepreneurs in low-income families. The project, which began in 2004 and received funding from a Rotary Foundation Matching Grant, has helped 126 women, all heads of household. Repaid loans have been donated to a community organization called Paul Harris of Talagante, which continues to support the microcredit program.
