LOOKING GOOD IN THE PHILIPPINES

After completing a medical mission in Pampanga, a coastal area of the Philippines, the Rotary Club of Metro Clark-Clark Field discovered that most children there can’t complete their education because of widespread financial hardship. Girls are most affected by the extreme poverty, so the club organized a two-month beauty school program for young women. Graduates earn an official certification recognized by the Philippine government and receive the training necessary to qualify for gainful employment. So far, 24 girls and young women have completed the program. The Rotary club worked closely with the Department of Labor and Employment, the local high school, and the city government to plan the effort. This project was registered as C02291 on ProjectLINK.
