JANUARY 13


1990:Virginian Douglas Wilder is sworn in as the nation’s first elected black governor.

1966: Robert Weaver is sworn in as the nation’s first black Cabinet member, heading the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

1968: “I’m Johnny Cash” is how the singer introduces himself before a concert at Folsom Prison. The recording becomes one of his biggest albums.
