1911:Eugene Ely becomes the first pilot to land an aircraft on a ship as he maneuvers his plane onto the USS Pennsylvania.

1967: Albert DeSalvo, who claimed to be the Boston Strangler responsible for 13 women’s deaths, is sentenced to life in prison for other crimes he committed against women.

1993: For the first time, all 50 states celebrate Martin Luther King Day.
