1962:Andy Warhol’s “Campbell’s Soup Cans” exhibit opens in the Ferus Gallery in Los Angeles, marking the West Coast debut of pop art.

1922: Johnny Weissmuller breaks the minute barrier and the world record for swimming the 100-meter freestyle when he finishes in 58.6 seconds.

1955:Rock Around the Clock” by Bill Haley and His Comets becomes the first rock ’n’ roll song to make it to the top of the charts.
