1933:Wiley Post completes the first solo around-the-world flight, returning to New York’s Floyd Bennett Field after a trip of 7 days and 18 hours.

1934: Federal agents shoot and kill John Dillinger, America’s “Public Enemy No. 1,” after the notorious bank robber exits the Biograph Theatre on Chicago’s North Side.

1991: Serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer is finally apprehended in his Milwaukee apartment after committing 17 grisly murders since 1978.
