JUNE 20
1975:The movie Jaws is released, creating the summer blockbuster, catapulting director Steven Spielberg to Hollywood stardom and causing countless viewers to become terrified of the open water. Cue the scary music.

1837: A teenage Queen Victoria assumes the British throne after the death of her uncle, King William IV. She will rule for 63 years during the zenith of the British empire, until her death in 1901.

1967: Boxer Muhammad Ali is convicted of refusing to be drafted into the U.S. Army, citing religious beliefs. He is banned from boxing for three years, although the Supreme Court will overturn the guilty verdict in 1971.
