It's been a while since America was an agricultural society. For most people, dairy products just magically appear on store shelves. Yes, you know it originally came from a cow. But you try not to think about that too much. But sometimes you might want to. For example, you want to support the local economy. How can you tell if a dairy product is local?
Or maybe you're trying to save money. Most stores sell both generic and brand name products. They actually might come from the same place. How can you check?
