1960:The world’s first birth control pill, Enovid-10, is approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

1754: The Pennsylvania Gazette prints what is thought to be the first American political cartoon. It urges the colonies to “Join, or Die.”

1914: Happy Mother’s Day. President Woodrow Wilson inaugurates a national holiday honoring all mothers.
