1893:Beatrix Potter's beloved Peter Rabbit makes his first appearance, in an illustrated letter to 5-year-old Noel Moore. Based on the original story, The Tale of Peter Rabbit will be published in 1902 by Frederick Warne & Co. as the first of Potter's 23 books about Peter and his friends.

1888: George Eastman receives a patent for a roll-film box camera that he trademarks under the name Kodak. The Eastman Kodak Company will bring photography to the general public, and the Kodak camera will be the first to be mass-produced.

1998: Larry Page and Sergey Brin's Internet search engine, Google, is incorporated as a privately held company.
