DECEMBER 22
1956:Colo becomes the first gorilla ever born into captivity, at the Columbus Zoo in Ohio. Today Colo, now the oldest living gorilla in the world, celebrates her 54th birthday.

1968: Julie Nixon, daughter of President-elect Richard Nixon, and David Eisenhower, grandson of former President Dwight D. Eisenhower, are married in New York City.
