YOUNG FOLKS DOING GOOD THINGS


  • The Interact Club of La Jolla High School, California, USA, is making a difference by helping to build new homes for some of the poorest residents of Tijuana, Mexico.   • The Interact Club of Communities-in-Schools at the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice, USA, won the grand prize in the 2009 Interact video contest. This unusual club convenes inside a juvenile correctional facility and is composed of youth offenders. Interact gives these offenders a chance to give back to their communities. Read more.

  • At the Bitone Center for Disadvantaged Children, 8- to 18-year-olds learn traditional Ugandan dance, music, and theater. Many of the children are orphans, while others have lost their homes or been estranged from their families by disease, war, or economic hardship. By connecting the children with their heritage, the center strives to give them new hope and build their self-esteem. Read more.
