FOOD DRIVE ON THE HORIZON

Preparing for “Stamp Out Hunger,” the nation’s largest annual one-day food drive, just  became much easier with the launch of a new website.

Stampouthunger.com gives quick, easy access to the latest news regarding the food drive and tools to help individuals become involved and increase awareness about the event. The website also has downloads, such as a countdown widget, flyers, information and statistics about hunger in America, and links to sign up for e-mail or text reminders.

The National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) Food Drive — in conjunction with the Postal Service — helps feed families in all 50 states.

This year’s food drive is Saturday, May 8. The “Stamp Out Hunger” website will go offline at the conclusion of this year’s event.

Donations this year are expected to push the overall total since the annual drive began 18 years ago to more than 1 billion pounds. The total currently is 982.7 million pounds.
