1965:Malcolm X is assassinated by members of the Nation of Islam at a rally in New York. He was 39.

1947:
Edwin Land shows off the world’s first instant camera—the Polaroid Land.

1975:
Former Nixon administration members John Mitchell, H.R Haldeman and John Ehrlichman are sentenced to prison terms ranging from 2 1/2 to eight years for their roles in the Watergate scandal.
