SEPTEMBER 4

1888:George Eastman receives a patent for a roll-film box camera that he trademarks under the name Kodak. The Eastman Kodak Company would bring photography to the general public, and the Kodak camera is the first to be mass-produced.

1833: Ten-year-old Barney Flaherty becomes the nation's first official newsboy, after answering a job advertisement in the New York Sun. Sept. 4 is celebrated as Newspaper Carrier Day.


1957:The Edsel is introduced by the Ford Motor Company

1956:First magnetic disk storage commercial computer introduced: IBM 305 RAMAC

1781:City of Los Angeles, California, is founded by 44 Spanish settlers.

1998:Larry Page and Sergey Brin found Google.

1975:Israel agrees to give Egypt Sinai, when The Sinai Interim Agreement is signed.

1972:Mark Spitz becomes the first ever athlete to win 7 Olympic gold medals.
