OCTOBER 27
1975:Rocker Bruce Springsteen makes news as the cover boy for both Time and Newsweek in the same week. The "Boss" is in the media spotlight for the release of his seminal album, Born to Run.

1787: The first of 85 essays written by Alexander Hamilton, James Madison and John Jay, under the pen name "Publius," is published in three newspapers. Known collectively as The Federalist Papers, the essays urge New Yorkers to ratify the U.S. Constitution.

1880: On his 22nd birthday, future president Theodore Roosevelt marries 19-year-old Alice Hathaway Lee in Brookline, Mass. Tragically, the young Mrs. Roosevelt will die in February 1884 from childbirth-related complications.
