OCTOBER 10
1975:Screen legend Elizabeth Taylor remarries Richard Burton, whom she had divorced only 16 months earlier. This time around, the two are wed in Botswana. The marriage does not last, and the Cleopatra stars will divorce again in July 1976.

1902: Orville Gibson founds the Gibson Mandolin-Guitar Manufacturing Co. in Kalamazoo, Mich. The company will famously produce the first commercially successful electric guitar in 1936.

1965: Peanuts creator Charles Schulz present's Snoopy's alter ego, the World War I Flying Ace, for the first time. The canine comic character sits atop his "Sopwith Camel" doghouse in imaginary battles against historical German pilot Manfred von Richthofen, better known as the Red Baron. A year later, the Royal Guardsmen score a surprise record hit with "Snoopy vs. the Red Baron."
