SEPTEMBER 25
2006:With former President George H.W. Bush, musical performers U2 and Green Day, and a crowd of over 68,000 fans in attendance, the New Orleans Saints return to the Louisiana Superdome for their first home field football game since the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. They trounce the Atlanta Falcons 23-3.

1513: Spanish explorer Vasco Núñez de Balboa crosses the Isthmus of Panama, becoming the first European on record to see the Pacific Ocean from the New World.

1926: Henry Ford announces that the Ford Motor Company's Detroit-based automotive factories will adopt a five-day, 40-hour work week; manufacturers around the nation soon follow Ford's example.
