1881: Gunfire erupts near the OK Corral in Tombstone, Ariz., as Doc Holliday, Wyatt Earp and his brothers Virgil and Morgan take on Ike Clanton’s gang. Three of Clanton’s men are killed, while Earp’s posse is only wounded.

1979: South Korean President Park Chung Hee is “accidentally” shot and killed by his chief of intelligence service.

1994: Israel and Jordan end a 46-year state of war.
