1908 : Henry Ford releases his “universal car,” the Model T, which sells for $825 and comes in black.

1961: New York Yankee Roger Maris breaks Babe Ruth’s home run record after hitting his 61st. Baseball Commissioner Ford Frick rules the records are not equal because the season is now eight games longer.

1975: The “Thrilla in Manila.” Muhammad Ali defeats Joe Frazier in their third and greatest fight.
