TUNE IN TONIGHT

TCM, 8 p.m. ET
Elizabeth Taylor and Montgomery Clift star in this tenderly acted adaptation of Theodore Dreiser's An American Tragedy. George Stevens directed, and captured another of Clift's rare, fiery screen performances.

A MIGHTY WIND
HBO Family, 10 p.m. ET
Made in 2003, this Christopher Guest film is like a folk version of This is Spinal Tap, with many of the same players and all of the same satiric sensibility. Former SCTV co-stars Catherine O’Hara and Eugene Levy, as former folk duo Mitch & Mickey, give this comedy some actual pathos, and the Spinal Tap trio – Guest, Michael McKean and Harry Shearer – reinvent themselves as The Folksmen. But watch, also, for The New Main Street Singers, a bubbly vocal group whose members include Jane Lynch and Parker Posey. A delightful little film.
