FEBRUARY 7

1964:More than 3,000 screaming fans—mostly teenage girls—greet the Beatles as they arrive at JFK Airport for their first U.S. tour.
 
1948:
Gen. Dwight Eisenhower resigns from the Army to become Columbia University’s president. He returns to military service two years later.

1991:
The Rev. Jean-Bertrand Aristide, Haiti’s first democratically elected president, is sworn into office.
