MARCH IS LITERACY MONTH

Did you know that nearly 800 million people worldwide are unable to read or write? Without these skills, they are especially vulnerable to poverty, hunger, and disease.   Literacy Month is an opportunity for Rotarians to share their talents, energy, and resources to promote reading and writing. Here are some resources to help your club or district get involved in a literacy project:  Visit the Literacy Resource Group page on the RI website, and contact your coordinator for guidance. Read the group's monthly newslettersfor ideas. Visit the ProjectLINK database to learn about Rotary club and district literacy projects that are seeking support. Consult the publication Every School A Star: A Literacy Tool Kit for ideas on how to establish a school-based literacy project in your community. Consider partnering with the International Reading Association or the Dollywood Foundation's Imagination Library, which have formal relationships with RI.
