DO YOU REMEMBER?

The hit sitcom, ALF, combined a 229-year old furry orange alien with the average American family. Originally from the planet Melmac, and known as Gordon Shumway, Alf crash-landed in the Tanner Family’s garage when Melmac exploded.

ALF was very popular on NBC, due to the wise-cracking, blue-collar Alf. Everyone in the family loved him, except the cat, Lucky, who Alf would have happily eaten if given the chance. But he became a new addition to the family, who also included annoyed yet mild-mannered dad, Willie, and kids Brian and Lynn.  And, of course, ‘80’s sitcoms had to have annoying neighbors, and ALF didn’t disappoint. Neighbors Trevor, Rachel and Jake Ochmonek were always dropping by and snooping around.

Alf was played by a mechanical puppet while seated, and by little-person actor Micah Maestros when moving around. His voice was provided by show creator Paul Fusco. The show was a precursor to other space-themed sitcoms like Third Rock From the Sun and Lilo and Stitch.
