When Gil Alexander gave Rob Robinson permission to hunt turkeys on his property, he didn’t realize that the hunter would soon save his life. Robinson learned that his newfound friend was ill and in need of a kidney transplant, so he went home and got tested. “He texted me and said, ‘I’m a match,’” said Alexander, 56. “I put down the phone and started to cry.” Thanks to the transplant, Alexander was able to stop dialysis treatments and return to farming. What’s more, the surgery also revealed early-stage pancreatic cancer, which was successfully treated. “I feel like the most blessed person on the planet,” Alexander said.
