alpha-gal
Blood tests revealed they had pre-existing antibodies to a certain sugar commonly known as alpha-gal, which is present in the drug and found naturally in mammalian meat.
Alpha-gal is short for Galactose-alpha-1,3-galactose and is also involved in some kinds of transplant-rejection problems, especially transplants of organs and tissues from pigs.
