THE FIRST WORD

hypovolemic
Heavy blood loss can cause a condition known as hypovolemic shock, in which severe blood and fluid loss make the heart unable to pump enough blood into the body and cause organs to shut down.
Hypovolemic comes from roots meaning "low volume." Dehydration, as well as severe blood loss, can cause hypovolemia. Hypervolemia (too much volume) can be caused by congestive heart failure and liver or kidney failure.
