APRIL 20
1972:The Supreme Court unanimously rules that busing to achieve racial desegregation is constitutional in the Swann v. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Board of Education decision.

1918: German World War I flying ace Manfred von Richthofen, nicknamed the Red Baron, shoots down two Allied planes, bringing his total air combat victories to 80 planes. Richthofen would be killed the next day near Amiens, France. He was 25.

1999: Teenage gunmen Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris open fire at Columbine High School in the Denver suburb of Littleton, killing 13 people and wounding 24 others before turning their guns on themselves.
