FEBRUARY 24
1992:Nirvana lead singer Kurt Cobain marries Hole front woman Courtney Love in Waikiki Beach, Hawaii.

1868:
President Andrew Johnson is the first president to be impeached, as the U.S. House of Representatives votes 126-47 to impeach him for his dismissal of Secretary of War Edwin M. Stanton. Johnson would be narrowly acquitted by the Senate in May 1868 and would serve out the remainder of his term.

1942:
The Voice of America shortwave radio service begins broadcasting from the Office of War Information, aimed at providing American programming to regions controlled by Nazi Germany.
