HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! LET'S TWEET

RI’s anniversary is 23 February, and during the week of 20 February we’re celebrating 107 years of humanitarian service. Let us know on Twitter with the hashtag #ri107 how Rotary has impacted your life.

24 February Twitter chat with our polio partners

Talk to our partners in polio eradication during a Twitter chat on 24 February at 9:30 a.m. CST. We’ll discuss the success in India and the challenges, next steps in the global fight to end polio, and how you can become involved in supporting polio eradication.
Participants will include representatives from Rotary International @rotary, the World Health Organization, UNICEF, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and the United Nations Foundation. U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention officials will lead and moderate the discussion.  (click below to read more)

Mia Farrow hanging out in Google+ on 20 February

On 20 February at 1 p.m. CST, join UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador Mia Farrow and her UNICEF colleagues for their Google+ hangout from Bukavu, the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Her trip through Chad and the Democratic Republic of the Congo helps support a global push to make polio a part of the past. Lack of proper nutrition, clean water, basic health care, and conflict are some of the obstacles to eradicating the crippling disease.
Farrow, who had polio as a child, also will be joined by colleagues in India and Pakistan, two of the four countries where polio is still endemic. The other endemic countries are Afghanistan and Nigeria.
In addition, students, bloggers, and activists from around the world will be ‘hanging out’ on Google+ and will share their personal stories and questions with Farrow regarding her trip and UNICEF work.
To participate, visit UNICEF’s Google+ page before the event 20 February. You can use the hashtag#miaCONGO to ask Farrow or her UNICEF colleagues questions via Twitter or Google+ before or during the event.
