TODAY IN HISTORY

MARCH 26
1964:Funny Girl, a stage musical starring Barbra Streisand as comedienne Fanny Brice, premieres on Broadway at the Winter Garden Theater in New York City. Streisand will reprise the role in the 1978 film of the same name. 

1917:
The Seattle Metropolitans beat the Montreal Canadiens three games to one in a best-of-five contest at the Seattle Ice Arena, becoming the first hockey team from the United States to win the Stanley Cup.

1979: Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin and Egyptian President Anwar Sadat  sign the  Egypt-Israel Peace Treaty, the result of negotiations brokered by President Jimmy Carter at Camp David in September 1978. The treaty establishes mutual recognition between the two nations, demilitarizing the Sinai Peninsula and ending three decades of conflict.
