Although the U.S. is overall the richest nation in the world, 24 percent of Americans say they have had trouble putting food on the table in the past 12 months—up from 16 percent in 2007, before the Great Recession began. In Australia, Canada, and Germany, only 10 percent said they had trouble getting food last year.
