And what better time to revisit this classic 1940 film, based on John Steinbeck's literary wail against the dehumanizing conditions of the Great Depression? Henry Fonda stars as an Oklahoma farmer who takes his family to California in hopes of improving their living conditions. The more things change...

This weekend, TBS presents its annual rollout of this 1939 movie classic, presenting telecasts tonight through Sunday. When The Wizard of Oz was shown annually on broadcast television, in the days before VCRs and cable, it used to be a event kids anticipated feverishly.  And it’s still a wonderful movie to watch with your family.
