NOVEMBER 6
1988:Norwegian long-distance runner Grete Waitz, at age 36, wins the women's division of the New York Marathon for a record ninth time, in 2 hours, 28 minutes, 7 seconds.

1905: Maude Adams stars as Peter Pan in the Broadway debut of J.M. Barrie's classic play about the boy who wouldn't grow up, at New York's Empire Theater.

1995: Cleveland Browns owner Art Modell announces that his football team is moving to Baltimore for the 1996 season, where they will become the Baltimore Ravens. The Ravens will win in their first Super Bowl appearance in 2001, while the Browns will be revived as an NFL expansion team in 1999.
