DEFINED-KLUTZ

Widely used in the U.S. since about 1918, klutz was originally a Yiddish term, deriving from the German Klotz for "a log or block of wood." It describes a clumsy, graceless person; a bungler, a fool. Klutz, however, can also refer to an intelligent person who is badly coordinated. To klutz means "to botch up or bungle.'
