LAST CALL

America’s transition to digital television (DTV) is only two weeks away, on June 12. Originally set for February 17, the date was moved back due to concerns that too many households were unprepared for the switch, which means older analog televisions will no longer work unless connected to cable television, satellite television, or a converter box.

Those needing converter boxes can still take part in the government program providing $40 coupons from the U.S. Department of Commerce toward their purchase. To apply, call 1-888-DTV-2009 or go online to dtv2009.gov.

Procrastinators will be disappointed. “There will not be another delay,” according to a statement from the Commerce Department.
