THE FIRST WORD
sourdough
And the Sourtoe—a local attraction that has gained notice and travel-guide mentions over the past 39 years—is drawing a new generation of those eager to prove themselves true Yukoners (or, in local parlance, "sourdoughs") by downing the tawdry tipple.
The opposite of a sourdough is a "cheechako," a newcomer or tenderfoot.
