1943:The Washington Redskins' "Slinging Sammy" Baugh sets an unmatched NFL record by completing four touchdown passes and making four interceptions in a single game as the Redskins defeat the Detroit Lions 42-20 in Washington.

1922: Arthur Burrows begins the BBC's first daily radio news broadcast, reading the 6 p.m. bulletin from radio station 2LO in London.

1986: The Securities and Exchange Commission fines arbitrageur Ivan Boesky a record $100 million for illegally using inside information about stock mergers to make trades. Boesky pleads guilty to the charges and serves two years at California's Lompoc Federal Prison.
