WORLD DIABETES DAY

Diabetes is a growing worldwide health risk that already causes 5 percent of all deaths. To promote awareness and prevention, the International Diabetes Foundation declared 14 November World Diabetes Day, which was designated as a UN day in 2007.

Consider recognizing World Diabetes Day within your club. Engage with your community through a diabetes prevention and treatment project. District 7030 conducts a diabetes public awareness and health campaign throughout its 19 Caribbean and South American countries and territories. In July, the Rotary Club of Gros Islet, St. Lucia, hosted a health care worker training session as part of its Diabetic Foot Care Project. Visit the websites of District 7030 and the International Diabetes Foundation for more information.
The Rotarian Action Group for Diabetes is an excellent resource for clubs and districts interested in supporting a diabetes project and for individual Rotarians passionate about the cause.
