CHARITY OF THE WEEK

By 2018, the U.S. will have more than 1.2 million job openings in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) without enough qualified workers to fill them.Project Lead the Way (pltw.org) is the nation’s leading provider of STEM programs, encouraging students from kindergarten through 12th grade to become the next generation of innovators. More than 5,000 elementary, middle, and high schools in all 50 states offer PLTW courses, including public, private, and charter schools in rural, urban, and suburban districts across all income levels. PLTW teachers undergo rigorous training sessions to ensure quality education. Currently, the PLTW high school curriculum includes courses on computer science, engineering, and biomedical science.

The charity  has earned a four-star overall rating from Charity Navigator, which rates not-for-profit organizations on the strength of their finances, their control of administrative and fundraising expenses, and the transparency of their operations. Four stars is the group’s highest rating.
