THE FIRST WORD

polocrosse

She says she uses the money to feed and house a thoroughbred horse she rides for competitive matches of polocrosse, a mashup of lacrosse and polo.
Polocrosse players blend their language as well, using some polo jargon (including "chukka," of which there are six or eight in a game) as well as terms from lacrosse (including "stick" and "cradle"). Polo comes from a Tibetan word meaning "ball," and lacrosse derives from French words meaning "hooked stick."
