Virgin Galactic has received clearance from the Federal Aviation Administration to begin commercial spaceflights by the end of the year. The flights will leave from Spaceport America in New Mexico, with 580 people thus far having paid a total of $70 million to join the waiting list for a short ride above Earth’s atmosphere.
