PEOPLE BEING PEOPLE

After being bitten by one of the world’s deadliest snakes, an Australian man’s first reaction was to grab a beer from the fridge. Rod Sommerville, 54, was working in his yard when he was bitten on the finger by the feared eastern brown snake. “I said to myself, ‘If I’m going to cark it, I’m going to have a beer,’” Sommerville said. He was rushed to a hospital for treatment, but his ordeal worsened when he suffered an allergic reaction to the anti-venom. “The reaction nearly killed me as well,” he said, “so it was a double whammy.
