The Yosemite Conservancy (YosemiteConservancy.org) has worked for 90 years to protect California’s beloved national park and to deepen the engagement of its 4 million annual visitors. The Conservancy has funded more than 330 projects, ranging from youth conservation programs to the restoration of habitat for native songbirds. It works continually to help protect Yosemite’s three giant sequoia groves, systematically remove invasive plants, and maintain the park’s 800-mile trail network. The ongoing Rim Fire has destroyed more than 370 square miles around Yosemite, including 66,000 acres within the park’s boundaries. The Conservancy has established a special fund to help the National Park Service restore trails, buildings, and wildlife habitat in the huge fire’s aftermath.
The charity has earned a four-star overall rating from Charity Navigator , which rates not-for-profit organizations on the strength of their finances, their control of administrative and fundraising expenses, and the transparency of their operations. Four stars is the group’s highest rating.
