THINNER AND SMARTER
A small-scale study finds truth in the adage, "a sound mind in a healthy body."The study involved six overweight, sedentary adults who averaged 49 years old. After various assessments, they underwent twice-weekly sessions involving an exercise bike and weight training for four months. (click below to read more)
By the end, the participants had achieved greater fitness, reduced waist circumference and lower body weight. But the exercise program also apparently "significantly and clinically improved" performance on tests of mental acuity, the researchers said. In fact the fitter participants became, the sharper they were mentally.
