1865 - Outlaw Jesse James shot to death in St. Joseph, Missouri, by one of his gang

1860 - Pony Express mail service begins operating between Sacramento, California and St. Joseph Missouri. It was the fastest mail service before telegraph was invented.

 2010 - Apple's iPad goes on sale for the first time, creating a frenzy and changing the world of tablet computing forever.
