1956:Rosa Parks and the African American community win a crucial battle as the U.S. Supreme Court rules public buses cannot be segregated.
1789: Benjamin Franklin writes a friend that the Constitution has been established, though “in this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes.”
1985: Lynette Woodard joins the Harlem Globetrotters, becoming the first woman to play for the team.
