1933: At 5:32 p.m., Americans are able to enjoy their first legal drink in nearly 14 years, as Utah becomes the 36th state to ratify the 21st Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, repealing the 18th Amendment's national prohibition of alcohol.
1952: Comedians Bud Abbott and Lou Costello star in the first episode of The Abbott and Costello Show on CBS. Although it would run for only two seasons, the syndicated program would be widely recognized as one of the best American television comedies of the 20th century.
